Awaken your sleeping giant

I have always believed that inside each and every one of us, there is the spirit of a giant who lies asleep until called upon. When we are finally able to awaken this giant, magic follows: and the giant will perform beyond our wildest dreams and imagination. The process of awakening this giant is what requires the most ardent and continuous of efforts.

Just think about your early life, of where you were and how you fared and now compare yourself and your career path at present to that. Ask yourself if this view is not enough to force you to perform better and so, why it is that you are not performing to the best of your abilities already.

Of course, you know you have to make rigorous efforts and sacrifice many comforts to rectify this situation. Then from this vantage point, ask yourself again why it is that why are you not already performing at such a level right now.

For awakening your sleeping giant from within following habits shall have to developed.

1. Learn new skills

Something magical can happen when you read a good book.

Whenever there is a chance to learn new skills eg. reading good books, you must never fail to avail it. By learning new skills your brain expands and new ideas keep on coming. Your experience and your value increases.

Find time for self-improvement

Sea-going ships and boats routinely accumulate barnacles at their bottom and sides. Barnacles are small sea organisms related to the crab family, which cling to ship’s bottom.

Similar to a ship’s bottom, our minds can also become hardened with old ideas and the lack of fresh learning’s. These barnacles must be removed from our minds time to time. Fresh ideas, knowledge and technology must be imbibed to keep us fresh and for performing at our best.

2. Discover your new talents

Always try to find out the talents within you which earlier couldn’t be discovered due to certain constraints. The new talents shall help you to energize and help in reaching your potential.

• Edison sold newspapers on trains to supplement his family’s income. He read voraciously as a child.

3. Never Give Up

You must never give up your goal which you truly believe that you can achieve. You may not have favorable conditions sometime but quitting will leave you sad, unsatisfactory and missing the opportunities.

Not giving up is sometimes difficult, time consuming but ultimately the results are sweet and rewarding.

Colonel Sanders at the age of 65 knew nothing except an old chicken soup recipe which was taught by his mother. He also had an old car and 100 dollar social security cheque.

He had to survive. So he thought, “I must sell this chicken soup recipe to people.”

He started knocking the doors of people. He knocked at first, second, fifth, tenth, hundredth; he did not get any order. After knocking over 1000 doors he got his first order.

How many of you generally quit after three, five, ten or twenty refusals. When you have faith in your plans and refuse to quit under any circumstances, destiny opens up a whole new path for you.
