Learn every day

To improve and educate ourselves we must grab every opportunity for learning. Such opportunities cross our paths every day; it is important to learn where such opportunities lie and to make full use of them in order to help us in our growth as individuals and professionals.

Can we improve ourselves? Yes, we can improve ourselves by learning continuously. Most of us are not born geniuses; but even those who are born with extraordinary innate gifts must apply active and regular learning in order to develop their faculties. For the rest of us, learning from both life and books is absolutely essential if we want to improve ourselves.

One problem that faces many of us is that we never learn how to learn outside a structured learning environment such as school. But scholastic learning is only one part of life, and instead of being the only period of time in our lives when we are active learners, we must think of it as a time that sets the stage for lifelong and enthusiastic learning.

Let us compare the lives of two students, one who passes his final examination with flying colours and another who barely passes. You might think that the student with the higher scores will necessarily become a high achiever later in life, but you would be surprised by how often it turns out that school grades are not correlated to success later in life.

In fact, success in professional life often depends on whether or not one is continuously educating oneself and upgrading his skills  with enthusiasm and a true love for learning.

A great student, then, is not necessarily one with the highest scores, but one who is attracted to every learning opportunity. A great student can even learn from a bad teacher by using such an experience to learn what approaches he should avoid. A great student learns when to let go of a previous lesson in the face of new evidence.

No matter how brilliant or well-informed you are, you will never run out of things to learn! The world is full of innumerable wondrous events, technologies and phenomenon that can be the source of constant learning.

Moreover, being a learner makes you an interesting person to those around you, and in turn you can teach others from your own experiences and mistakes!

Benefits : People who learn from day-to-day situations, keep their knowledge up-to-date, read constructive material and they experience great growth in their lives.
